Outdoor Systems

 

This is where the term PA started off .  Referring to good old Public Address.

 

This is the equipment needed to cover  large outdoor areas, agricultural shows, gymkhanas, carnivals, fetes for example.

 

Also referred to as 100V Line and “Horns on Sticks”.

 

Historically these systems have been labelled as poor quality ‘British Rail’  announcements.  The reason for the lower quality was that to get speakers that loud and to throw that far over a great distance something had to give .and that was the bandwidth of the system.

 

The good news is that technology has moved on in recent years.  Although the ‘old’ smaller bandwidth systems are still commonplace systems are now available with a much higher sound quality without loosing too much of the performance.
